New York Southern District Court Judge Edgardo Ramos agreed to pause the House subpoenas of President Donald Trump’s financial records while the President’s team files an expedited appeal, according to the Washington Post.
The request was made jointly by Trump’s lawyers and attorneys for the House committees.
Ramos has also rejected team Trump’s request for a preliminary injunction after his lawyers argued that the records would breach the President’s privacy. The judge said that Trump and his family “are unlikely to succeed on merits of their claims.”
Earlier in May, a different judge shot down team Trump’s effort to block a House committee’s attempt to obtain records from Trump’s accounting firm.
