House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) accused Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) of anti-Semitism on Sunday for a tweet bashing Nadler, who is Jewish, and linking him to conservative boegeyman billionaire Democratic activist Tom Steyer, whose father is Jewish.
“To be clear, this tweet counts as both inane and anti-Semitic,” Nadler said, retweeting Jordan’s tweet, in which the Republican criticized Nadler and Democrats by suggesting their investigations into President Trump are just formalities in a long game impeachment effort.
When Jordan mentioned Steyer, a frequent target of conservatives, instead of typing out Steyer’s last name, Jordan replaced the “S” with a dollar sign.

Republicans on the House Oversight Committee, for which Jordan is the ranking member, repeatedly raised questions about Democrats’ motivations for bringing Michael Cohen before the committee to testify last week, and many suggested it was part of a plot by Democrats and Steyer to impeach Trump.
Steyer has spent millions in the past year to produce commercials advocating for Trump’s impeachment.
Ian Fury, a spokesman for Jordan’s office told TPM that the dollar sign represents dollars and was used because Steyer is a billionaire.
“Tom Steyer is a billionaire pushing Democrats like Chairmen Cummings and Nadler to impeach the President. As you may know, the $ symbol represents dollars, of which Mr. Steyer has approximately 1.6 billion and has committed eight figures to fund far left-wing causes,” he told TPM in a statement Monday. “Congressman Jordan has always stood against hatred and bigotry. Also, according to public sources, Steyer is Episcopalian.”
