During a private meeting with House Republicans at the White House on Tuesday, President Trump fumed about his new favorite target — Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) — as well as his longtime foe — whom he appointed — Federal Reserve Chairman Jay Powell, according to Politico.
Trump called Schiff a “pencil neck” a few times before insinuating both Schiff and Powell have poor golf skills. He said Schiff could probably “drive the ball only 50 yards” and Powell is a “bad putter,” in Politico’s words.
Trump and others in the White House have made Schiff the target of their ire ever since the review of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia report was released over the weekend by Attorney General William Barr, who told Congress Mueller had found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Schiff has repeatedly suggested there was strong evidence of collusion and continues to double down, despite Barr’s assessment of the report.
