With a few more House Democrats switching to team pro-impeachment this weekend, their ranks have swelled to 107 members — only 11 short of the majority of the caucus.
According to Politico, House members also got a boost from a colleague in the other chamber, as Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) issued an endorsement of the effort.
Pro-impeachment Democrats hope that the symbolic threshold of clinching the majority of the caucus will ramp up the pressure on Democratic leadership to get on board.
The House is currently out of session on an extended summer recess, where hearing from constituents back in members’ home districts may move the needle on the issue even further.
