House Democrats sent a letter to Attorney General William Barr on Monday evening demanding that they receive a “complete and unredacted” provision of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report before April 2.

They said that Congress should be allowed its fair shake at reviewing any “evidence regarding obstruction of justice”  as well as the “full body of facts and evidence” related to Russia’s online election-related disinformation campaigns.

“Your four-page summary of the special counsel’s review is not sufficient for Congress as a coequal branch of government, to perform this critical work,” wrote Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), Elijah Cummings (D-MD), Adam Schiff (D-CA), Maxine Waters (D-CA), Richard Neal (D-MA) and Eliot Engel (D-NY).

“The release of the full report and the underlying evidence and documents is urgently needed by our committees to perform their duties under the Constitution,” they continued. “Those duties include evaluating underlying facts and determining whether legislative or other reforms are required — both to ensure that the Justice Department is able to carry out investigations without interference or obstruction by the President and to protect our future elections from foreign interference.”
