As COVID-19 cases reach record highs in Arizona, an estimated 3,000 people showed up at President Donald Trump’s “Students for Trump” rally at a megachurch in Phoenix on Tuesday night–and most of them went mask-free.

The rally, held at Dream City Church, saw Trump’s supporters largely eschewing Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego’s citywide mask requirement, similar to how the President himself has refused to publicly wear masks.

Gallego told CNN that though her mask policy would not be enforced at the rally, “everyone attending tomorrow’s event, particularly any elected official, should set an example to residents by wearing a mask.”

“This includes the President,” she added.

During the event, Trump downplayed the pandemic and falsely claimed once again that the virus is “going away.”

Politico also reported that unlike Trump’s first rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma this past weekend, the campaign did not hold temperature checks for attendees.

Meanwhile, a record 3,591 coronavirus cases emerged in the Grand Canyon State on the same day as Trump’s rally. And for the first time, daily hospitalizations surpassed 2,000.
