When Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) finished questioning Attorney General William Barr, Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) scolded his colleague for her line of questioning.
Hirono used most of her time to outline the ways in which she feels Barr has “betrayed” Americans’ trust, and she called on Barr to resign over his protection of Trump. But she finished her time by asking whether a series of actions that Trump committed related to obstruction of justice were “OK,” pulling a page from Rep. Adam Schiff’s book.
Barr dodged each question, offering only to comment on the criminality of the offenses. Graham cut Barr off from answering when asked about Trump’s offer of a pardon to Paul Manafort.
“Listen, you’ve slandered this man,” Graham said to Hirono.
“I do not think that I’m slandering anyone,” Hirono shot back. “Mr. Chairman, I am done, thank you very much.”
“You’ve slandered this man from top to bottom, so if you want more of this, you’re not going to get it,” Graham said. “If you want to ask him questions, you can.”
“Certainly you have your opinion and I have mine,” she said, while getting cut off by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).
