Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland for a “benign” gallstone infection on Tuesday, according to a Supreme Court spokesperson.

Ginsburg was admitted after taking tests that “confirmed she was suffering from a gallstone that had migrated to her cystic duct, blocking it and causing an infection,” Supreme Court spokesperson Kathleen Arberg stated in a press release.

“The Justice is resting comfortably and plans to participate in the oral argument teleconference tomorrow morning remotely from the hospital,” Arberg said. “She expects to stay in the hospital for a day or two.”

Ginsburg has suffered from several health problems over the past two years: In 2018, she had several tumors from her left lung removed, then she underwent treatment for pancreatic cancer for three weeks in August 2019. At the beginning of this year, the justice stated she was “cancer free.”

Prior to Ginsburg’s cancer diagnosis in 2019, President Donald Trump had reportedly already chosen a conservative female judge to keep on the back burner in the event that the justice’s seat opens up.
