Fox Business Network host Lou Dobbs think’s it’s fair to ditch the “don’t speak ill of the dead” adage when President Trump is the one speaking.
During his show on Thursday evening, Dobbs continued his defense of Trump’s attacks on the late-Sen. John McCain, suggesting that the fact that McCain is dead shouldn’t stop Trump from speaking his mind.
“You talk about John McCain being dead — I don’t think that that in any way, it is not an exhumation of his body, for God’s sake! It is a review of his record as a politician,” he said. “Not as a war hero 35 years ago, 40 years ago. It is an honest assessment of who he was and what he did. And what he did is as clear as a bell.”

On Wednesday night, Dobbs was one of very few in the conservative media willing to fully back Trump’s swipes at McCain, seven months after the senator’s death, over his vote on the skinny repeal of Obamacare. Trump can’t keep McCain’s name out of his mouth this week. He attacked McCain and his voting record at least three times on separate occasions and declared to reporters earlier this week he was “never a fan of John McCain and I never will be.”
