Dr. Anthony Fauci claimed that meetings with President Trump have decreased amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to an interview with STAT News published on Monday.
Fauci said “no” when asked if the President often talks to him work on a coronavirus vaccine and pointed out how White House coronavirus task force meetings used to happen “every single day.”
“About 75% of the time after the task force meeting we’d meet with the President,” Fauci said. “So I was meeting with him four times a week back, a month or so ago.”
Fauci added that those daily meetings now don’t occur as often anymore.
“But as you probably noticed, that the task force meetings have not occurred as often lately,” Fauci said. “And certainly my meetings with the President have been dramatically decreased.”
Last month, Trump faced backlash after the White House announced that it would dissolve its coronavirus task force. The President shortly walked back the decision and said that it would “indefinitely” remain in place, but with its focus turned to gradually reopening states.
