Blackwater security company founder Erik Prince admitted for the first time that he met with members of the Trump campaign in August 2016 in Trump Tower during an interview with Al Jazeera’s Mehdi Hasan.
During his testimony before the House Intelligence Committee last year, Prince failed to disclose information about the meeting, which included Trump campaign officials, an Israeli social media consultant and a diplomatic representative for two Gulf princes. Last May, The New York Times published a report on the meeting, which led some to believe Prince might have perjured himself before Congress.
Speaking to Hasan, Prince didn’t deny that the meeting took place.
“We were there … to talk about Iran policy,” Prince said.
When pressed, Prince maintained he disclosed that information to Congress and suggested, perhaps, the transcript Hasan was reading from was wrong.
