Footage from one of the cameras nearby Jeffrey Epstein’s cell the night he died is too flawed for investigators to use, though other cameras in the vicinity did capture clearer shots.

According to the Washington Post, which got information from sources briefed on the evidence, it is unclear if the issue with the camera was only happening that night, or if it has been a long-running problem.

The camera misstep seems to add fodder to the many criticisms plaguing the Metropolitan Correctional Center after Epstein’s August 10 death, as revelations have surfaced about inadequate guard checkups, overworked officers and Epstein’s lack of roommate in his final days.

New York’s chief medical examiner Barbara Sampson has ruled his death a suicide, though a somewhat unusual bone break in the neck, often an indicator of homicidal strangulation, initially gave her pause.
