Already, a few Republicans — Sens. Susan Collins (ME), Rand Paul (KY), Lisa Murkowski (AK) and Thom Tillis (NC) — have expressed their intention to vote against President Donald Trump’s national emergency.

Collins predicts that even more Republicans will defect when the time comes.

“I haven’t taken a count,” Collins told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota. “But I can tell you from talking with my colleagues that many are troubled, even those who are the strongest supporters of the President and his views on border security.”

The White House knows trouble is brewing, as other Republican allies like Sen. Lamar Alexander (TN) have voiced their discomfort with the Presidential power grab.

President Donald Trump seems to be taking a relatively laissez-faire approach to the insurrection though, seemingly content to field the blow from Congress and whip out his first veto. There are probably not enough votes to overturn his veto and the issue will likely end up in the courts.
