Former Trump fixer Michael Cohen is headed to prison on Monday, where he will serve 36 months for tax evasion, bank fraud, and campaign finance violations, as well as lying to Congress.
Cohen will serve out his time at the Otisville prison just outside New York City in the Catskills. He will be housed at the lower security campus of the prison, dubbed one of “America’s cushiest prisons” in 2009. The prison is a magnet of sorts for big names doing time for white collar crimes, like Martha Stewart and former Connecticut Gov. John Rowland.
When he reports to Otisville on Monday, Cohen will join a few big names currently serving time at the prison known as the “castle behind bars”:
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino
Sorrentino, best known for his stint on the reality television show “The Jersey Shore,” is in Otisville serving time for tax evasion. He’s only serving an eight-month sentence, so the tanned reality star won’t be walking the Otisville halls for long.
Dean Skelos
Skelos, the former New York State Senate majority leader, is serving a four-year sentence in Otisville for a corruption scheme. The formerly powerful politician pressured executives to pay his son’s business $300,000 for little work, threatening to kill legislation that would aide their businesses if they didn’t comply.
Sholam Weiss
Of all of Cohen’s infamous prison mates, Weiss is serving by far the longest sentence. Weiss was arrested in 2000 after a year running from law enforcement. He’s now serving an 835-year sentence for an extensive fraud scheme that swindled thousands of people out of their life savings.
Billy McFarland
McFarland is serving a six-year sentence in Otisville for fraud, stemming from his notorious music festival that never was, Fyre Festival. The serial scam artist was also charged with starting a sham company while he was out on pre-trial release.
