CNN has cut ties with one of its contributors, Mark Geragos, who was reportedly named as a co-conspirator of Michael Avenatti, the famous lawyer arrested on Monday for alleged fraud and extortion, HuffPost reported.
“He’s no longer a contributor at CNN,” a network spokesperson told HuffPost about Geragos.
Geragos, who represents clients like Colin Kaepernick and Jussie Smollett, was identified by the Wall Street Journal as an uncharged co-conspirator in the criminal complaint against Avenatti by the Southern District of New York. Avenatti — most famous for his role representing Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against President Trump — allegedly attempted to extort Nike for $20 million by threatening to use his knack for garnering publicity to expose dirt on the company.
