Old clips surfaced Sunday of Fox News host Tucker Carlson seeming to defend statutory rape, labeling women “primitive,” calling Britney Spears and Paris Hilton “the biggest white whores in America” and making a weirdly lewd comment about his daughter during old appearances on a radio show.
His response? To say he’d been “naughty” and invite any critics on his show.

In the clips, collected by Media Matters, of Carlson’s call-ins to radio show “Bubba the Love Sponge Show” between 2006 and 2011, Carlson pushed hard in defense of Warren Jeffs, president of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who is currently serving a life sentence for child rape.
“Now this guy may be a child rapist,” Carlson said. “I’m just telling you that arranging a marriage between a 16-year-old and a 27-year-old is not the same as pulling a stranger off the street and raping her.”
“The rapist, in this case, has made a lifelong commitment to live and take care of the person, so it is a little different,” he later added.
In a creepy interlude, Carlson chimed in on Bubba the Love Sponge’s hypothetical of underage girls “sexually exploring” each other at the boarding school Carlson’s daughter attended.
“If it weren’t my daughter, I would love that scenario,” Carlson said.
Then there’s the veritable cornucopia of horribly misogynistic things Carlson said on the show, including calling women “extremely primitive” and “basic” and describing TV anchor Alexis Stewart as “cunty” and bemoaning that he can’t “give her the spanking she so desperately needs.”
