Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC) was criticized by Republican colleagues and demeaned by the President on Thursday.
But he remains committed to bringing the President’s son in for further questioning before the committee, Politico reported.
Burr reportedly has no intention of withdrawing the subpoena, which requests that Donald Trump Jr. appear before the Intelligence Committee to testify over statements he previously made to the committee, Republican senators told Politico. Democrats on the committee have been calling for Trump Jr. to appear to discuss how his past statements line up with the findings of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe.
Burr declined to speak with reporters on Thursday as his Republican colleagues piled on him for not heeding Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s calls to let the Russia probe go.
