Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) reaffirmed on Friday his rejection of potential impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump in the aftermath of Robert Mueller’s redacted Russia probe report.
According to the Associated Press, Booker said that talk of impeachment is premature.
“There’s a lot more investigation that should go on before Congress comes to any conclusions like that,” said the 2020 Democratic candidate.
Booker made similar comments on Thursday after the report was released. When asked by a reporter if there should be a conversation about impeachment right now, he responded “No.”
“I think right now we need to continue this investigation,” said Booker. “Mueller should come before and testify.”
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) was the first (and so far the only) 2020 presidential candidate to call for Trump’s impeachment after the Justice Department released Mueller’s redacted report.
