Former National Security Adviser John Bolton is in talks with House committees about possibly testifying as part of the impeachment inquiry.
According to the New York Times, Bolton’s lawyer and impeachment investigators have been discussing a closed-door hearing. CNN also reported on the talks.
Bolton’s deposition became much more desirable to Democrats after top Ukraine diplomat Bill Taylor’s testimony, which captured Bolton pushing back aggressively against the pressure campaign to manufacture a Biden scandal.
In one episode, when U.S. Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland linked the phony investigations with a meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Bolton became so “irritated” that he ended the meeting immediately.
According to Taylor’s testimony, Bolton also tried to make White House lawyers and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo aware of the situation. He was ultimately fired just before the Ukrainian aid was released.
