If President Donald Trump loses to Democratic rival and former Vice President Joe Biden in the November election, he shouldn’t expect to receive the Nixon treatment that was provided by former President Gerald Ford, according to Biden.
During a town hall hosted by MSNBC on Thursday night, Biden said that he would not pardon Trump if he successfully removed the current president from office.
“Absolutely yes, I commit,” the Democratic candidate replied when a voter asked him if he would commit to not letting bygones be bygones post-Trump.
Biden told the voter “that will not happen, I guarantee you” and that “it’s hands off completely.”
He also slammed both Trump and Attorney General Bill Barr for having the Justice Department drop the criminal case of former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
“It is not something the President is entitled to do, to direct either a prosecution and/or decide to drop a case,” Biden said. “That is not the President’s role, responsibility, and it’s a dereliction of his duty.”
