President Joe Biden on Sunday evening declined to join Democrats’ growing calls for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) to resign as allegations of sexual misconduct continue to pile up against the governor.

“I think the investigation is underway and we should see what it brings us,” Biden told reporters.

Several women, most of whom served as Cuomo’s aides, in recent weeks have accused the governor of sexually harassing them. One accuser alleges that he groped her.

New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office is investigating the allegations, and last week the New York State Assembly allowed its Judiciary Committee to open a separate probe into the matter.

Dozens of New York state and U.S. Democrats have called on the governor to resign, including high-power lawmakers such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jerry Nadler (D-NY). Both of the Empire State’s U.S. senators, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), also called for Cuomo’s resignation on Friday.

Cuomo, who denies the allegations, has flatly rejected the notion of leaving office over the growing scandal and even adopted the cliche “cancel culture” defense against his critics on Friday.

“Politicians take positions for all sorts of reasons, including political expediency and bowing to pressure. But people know the difference between playing politics, bowing to cancel culture and the truth,” he told reporters during a press call.
