Democratic candidate Joe Biden is ready to face off with President Donald Trump at the final presidential debate next week, the former vice president’s campaign said on Friday morning.
Biden campaign senior adviser Symone Sanders told CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota that the chances of the in-person debate happening as scheduled on Thursday are “high.”
“Joe Biden intends to show up to the debate if there will be one,” Sanders said. “It is up to the Cleveland Clinic and the Commission on Presidential Debates to let us know what is going on. We’re going to abide to the guidelines they set out.”
“And it is on the Cleveland Clinic, Alison, to ensure that the safety precautions are being adhered to,” the campaign aide added. “So we expect them to do their jobs and Joe Biden is going to do his.”
The debate is scheduled to be held on October 22 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. NBC News correspondent Kristen Welker will serve as moderator.
