Beto O’Rourke has hired Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, the deputy campaign manager of former President Barack Obama’s 2012 bid, to head his campaign in a clear move to professionalize the grassroots effort.
According to a Monday New York Time report, Dillon has worked as executive director of the DNC and on five presidential races.
Dillon told the Times that she was not planning to jump into the race this early, but was compelled to by O’Rourke’s message.
“His leadership, his energy, his belief that you don’t have to segment voters and that you can be a president for all voters,” she said. “People are searching for that.”
