Fox News host Bret Baier would not let Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) off the hook Wednesday night, pushing him again and again on why he spent the entire Oversight Committee hearing attacking Michael Cohen’s credibility instead of questioning the substance of President Donald Trump’s actions.
Baier first played a clip of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) questioning why no Republicans were defending Trump on substance. Jordan pirouetted away, saying that Cohen is “not to be trusted.”
Baier tried again, bringing up the tantalizing hint Cohen dropped about other Trump-related matters being investigated by the Southern District of New York.
“When he repeatedly said he could not talk about certain things because they are under investigation by the Southern District of New York, is that not a red flag to the Trump administration, to the President?” Baier asked.
Jordan shrugged the question off, saying that there’s no way to know to what Cohen was referring.
“What about the specifics? Baier asked bluntly. “I understand all your points about credibility. I understand all the things about undermining his veracity. He is a flawed, flawed witness. But what about the substance? I mean, the President writing a check to him while President for these payments, these 11 payments, that he says were to pay off stormy Daniels, and the other woman — is that not true?”
Jordan insisted that there’s no “new news” in the Cohen testimony.
