A Fox News host thinks Republicans should be forgiven for spending months spewing falsehoods about the Nov. 3 election — reasoning that the coordinated effort was actually just a healthy dose of “skepticism.”

“I think Americans, I think Republicans, conservatives, can be forgiven for their skepticism,” Fox News’ Will Cain said early Tuesday. “Because whether or not an election was rigged, it certainly feels like society is rigged right now.”

The conservative news host asserted that a stream of debunked conspiracy theories and false claims about the election — what he termed “dissent” — had been squelched from every angle, effectively depriving Republicans from expressing their values.

The host cited “being lied to about the Hunter Biden story,” and watching President Donald Trump counter efforts to “undermine his legitimacy” as president as key examples justifying what has become an unprecedented effort by members of the Republican Party to wage war on democracy by refusing to accept the results of an election that was won by Trump’s now successor Joe Biden.

The comments came as the Fox & Friends hosts discussed Republican Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, who are fighting to hold onto their Senate seats in Georgia and have been unrelenting in their support of repeatedly disproven conspiracy theories surrounding election fraud in the state. Both senators have said that they would back a gambit to object when Electoral College votes reaffirming Biden’s win in their state are counted when Congress meets on Wednesday.

“When you deal with that for not just four years but decades, you start to think — if not an election, the entire society is rigged against people who hold my values,” Cain said.
