What To Expect
- CNN is streaming the debate online.
- Candidates Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and former Vice President Joe Biden will take the stage at 8 p.m. ET. The debate is expected to run two hours.
- Univision's Ilia Calderon and CNN's Dana Bash and Jake Tapper will moderate.
- Candidates will be given 90 seconds at first to respond to questions.
- Sunday's debate was originally set to be held in Arizona, but amid concerns over the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it was moved to D.C.
- The pandemic looms large, and both candidates have discussed their approaches to combating the disease's spread in recent days.
- The lack of an audience, and the presence of just two candidates, will leave both Sanders and Biden much more time to explain and debate the substance of their ideas.
- The debate comes just two days before the primary elections in Arizona, Florida, Illinois and Ohio.
- Biden is the front runner at this point in the race, and Sanders may view the debate as his best opportunity to push the former vice president to the left on key issues.
