President Donald Trump’s lawyers have concluded their defense arguments after using a mere three hours of the 16 allotted to them in the impeachment trial. None of the attorneys mused how Nebraska was a “quite a judicial-thinking place” this time, but their brief presentation did largely consist of lengthy video compilations, false equivalencies, and patently phony claims that Trump was indeed a “law and order” president.
At the end of their argument, Bruce Castor, one of the attorneys, told the senators the team was generously cutting their time short in order to give the chamber more time to deal with COVID-19. Okay!
The rest of the day will be spent on the senators’ questions to the House impeachment managers and Trump’s defense team. In that four-hour session, the managers and lawyers will have five minutes to respond to each question. Questions for both parties will be split evenly.
