FBI and DOJ officials will be holding a briefing at 3 p.m. ET, the first press conference given by any federal agency since the Jan. 6 insurrection attempt at the U.S. Capitol.
It comes as the FBI warns of “armed protests” across the country over the next week, and as the DOJ has begun to secure indictments against Jan. 6 Trump supporters on federal riot charges.
The lack of information from federal authorities to date has been astounding, leaving huge gaps in public knowledge around what took place. Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin and FBI Washington Field Office Assistant Director in Charge Steven D’Antuono will be speaking.
